Cake Cutting and Portions
Wedding Cakes and Celebration Cakes are traditionally cut either as a Finger Slice (1" x 1" x number of layers) or as a Dessert Slice (2" x 1" x number of layers). The choice of portion size is often determined by the type of event, when the cake will be cut and eaten (as a specific course in a sit-down meal or later during a buffet), the number of guests being catered for, and the overall budget.
Wedding Cakes are often cut as Finger Slices and Celebration Cakes as Dessert Slices, but there is no fixed rule, and I can help you to establish what will work best for you and your special event to ensure you have the number of portions you desire. For weddings, I supply the venue with a 'Cake Cutting Guide' to ensure your wishes are fully understood.
